EMILY FORGOT

Emily Forgot is the appropriately curious moniker of one of London’s brightest young things. Aged 25, Miss Forgot is an artist, entrepreneur and popular character amongst the creative social scenes of East London. Brought up in Sheffield by a curator father and a very French mother (and their respective partners), Emily is one of four with two sisters and a brother. An avid collector of all and sundry since she can remember, her childhood was a very happy, free and imaginative place with wholesome food and early introductions to ‘culture’.” She is known for developing her own interdisciplinary visual language, which embraces the odd, the everyday & the sometimes surreal. Emily prides herself on approaching all briefs with creative thought, originality, humour and beauty in mind whether the work is a commissioned piece or a flight of her own fancy.

Like her Thick & Thin peers, Emily has devoted a lot of time learning, evolving and finding her own style at college and she graduated from Liverpool School of Art and Design in 2004 with a first in graphic arts. Wasting little time Emily moved to the capital soon after completing her studies and immediately started getting her work recognised, being commissioned to illustrate for a variety of magazines and projects. In May 2007, she exhibited as part of the group show “Sometimes I’ve Believed 6 Impossible Things Before Breakfast” at the Nolias Gallery in Southwark, London, where her ‘playground plates’ were first exhibited. They have gone on to be included in the much-lauded travelling “Fragiles” show, which started its journey at Miami Art Basel. Working within ceramics has since gone hand-in-hand with the Emily Forgot brand, although illustration and graphic design is how she earns a living with recent projects including work for Harrods, Orange, Paul Smith and publications such as The Telegraph, The Guardian, Design Week and Men’s Health.

Emily is currently in the process of further developing her own range of products, which are available to buy at the Thick & Thin Show and on the website, as well as continuing to take on commercial projects for clients big and small. This year’s Thick & Thin will play host to a whole new range of exciting artwork from this unquestionable talent.
